Design Highlight : Battery power your home
We have heard of the Tesla car ,….now I have to admit I am a little excited about U.S. billionaire Elon Musk announcement to launch the lithium – ion battery for homes . Simply called “Tesla Powerwall,
The 7 kwh model with a 10 year lifespan, is expected to sell in Australia early 2016 from as low as $5,500 and be sufficient to power most homes during peak hours.
Not only is the design a sleek looking box but has triggered a massive drop in competitors pricing for hybrid storage, therefore automatically hooking up to Energex may be a thing in the past. Hmm consider these points:
- No more power bills
- No more ugly power lines
So how do the Storage units work – simply put … Solar units on the roof link to the battery and stores your solar power in a 7kwh daily cycle ( back up) and feeds it back to your home as you need it . Power does not go back to the grid.
